Do you think you gents can get past your pissing contest? I don't mind
topic drift in a thread. It's something that just happens. But this
sort of thing just generates heat but little light.
For example what should the O.P. do if his Mobo manufacturer. doesn't
have the drivers he needs. Is there perhaps a clearing house for SATA
and SCSI drivers? I'm sure one of you smart guys knows the answer to
that one.

chipset manufacturer...but it is very unlikely that the mobo manu. won't have such an
important driver......and it ain't a pissing contest until Johnny Doh! opens his
mouth....then its target practice. >> Stay informed about: Any ideas |

OOT?

You and your mother are chronic liars, JAD.

I know damn well why, but that idiotic notion is not why.

But I don't even have a web page, you silly obsessed troll.

The obsessed troll JAD is referring to the attempted violation of my
privacy by a malicious troll who repeatedly posted someone's address
and telephone number in an attempt to intimidate me.
No, of course I did not move, but the offender did cease clearly
violating USENET (and other) rules.
An obsessed troll who so hates correction, he top posts so his peers
cannot see the context of his replies.

If I were you, I would address that directly to the obviously obsessed
troll (JAD). You might notice he has a parody of my e-mail address in
his author identification. Still, I'm going to criticize the obsessed
troll when he's wrong. You just have to live with peer review,
especially when you are so careless and half the time don't even read
the posts you are replying to.
To solve your problem, all you have to do is press the Ignore
Subthread key. It's a wonderful all-in-one filter for USENET that even
comes with free newsreaders like XNews.

FWIW no one's asked Dave Cox what mobo he has. The HD is irrelevant. Once
we know the ID of the mobo we can determine if he needs a SATA driver. He
may not, depending on the vintage of the mobo/chipset. IIRC early
adaptations of onboard SATA required a driver for OS install. More recent
chipsets only require that the BIOS be properly setup to recognize the HD.

I think Jeff H wanted you to tell him the make *and* model number of
the motherboard. So, we could go to the Asus web site and look at
the driver options ourselves.
For example, "Asus M2NPV-VM".
All the recent motherboards are listed here, for Asus.
