kodak dvc325 camera

I like this usb camera, it worked fine with windows 98.Now that we're using
xp I had to download the install file for xp from kodak. There instructions
say with no camera software installed , camera unplugged, run the
install.exe which finishes, says successfull you can know plug in and use
the camera, BUT when I plug it in xp detects the new hardware and tries to
install software for it, if I let it it freezes up before finishing and
have to do a restart, if I choose have disk and browse to the install file
it finds nothing valid. Very frustrating, kodak says, install, plug in and
use, but it doesn't work that way. Anybody dealt with similar problem?
