be careful. The pci Usb 2.0 card must have VIA chip ,not NEC.Works on this
motherboard better!

Which PCI slot did you put yours into, Erik. I have tried a couple of
USB2.0 cards, one of them an NEC chip (the other a CompUSA Ali), and neither
worked. Mine was in the second PCI slot from the AGP ( -- is that 5 or 2,
I don't know).

I finally gave up and just live with USB 1.1 and a bunch of hubs.

Thanks. Next time I rip apart the computer (this week...vacation time....)
I'll shove the card in there and see if that makes a difference.

I bought a Ali and when I put it in, winxp finds it, but the system
slows to a dead snails pace. I had to reboot. Then, it causes the
system to not fully load. I had to remove it to get the system back
running normally. Any suggestions?

Check your board's PCI slot shares. Some PCI boards don't like sharing INTs
(A-D) with others. Maybe you could also assign an IRQ to it alone, ie. if
you don't use serial ports you could give it IRQ 3, etc.
