Best low light settings for Panasonic FZ-20 ??

I want to avoid using the pop-up flash because it makes it look like I
used a flash. It has an amateurish "snapshot" feel to it.

I do try to get as much light in the area as possible, but sometimes
that isn't an allowable variable.

What I am trying to find out is how optimize the digital camera setup:
-- picture size (2560, 2048, 1600, etc.)
-- quality (tiff, hi cmprsn, lo cmprsn)
-- color effect (cool, warm)
-- picture adjustment (contrast, sharpness, saturation, noise
reduction)

Do any of these settings affect how the camera works in low light?

The only settings that effect exposure is Aperture, Shutter speed and ISO.

Setting for ISO the larger numbers is a faster 'speed' .

Slow shutter speed lets in more light, but at the cost of blurring if you
hand hold the camera.
If you put the camera on a tripod, you can get away with slower shutter
speed.

Larger aperture is a small number (bigger hole in the lens). Larger aperture
lets in more light.

Flash if used correctly does not mean "amateur" or Snapshop. Although
snapsnap is a term simply meaning a photo made quickly, not necessary bad.

If you are determined to not use flash, then get some 500 watt flood lights
to light the room. Set the camera to tungsten if you use incandescent lamps.

Be aware that two 500 watt flood lamps get HOT!

If you want professional lighting go to B&H and spend some real money.
