Post subject: Trying to match a board to Athlon XP +1700

I had an ECS K7s5A
http://www.ecsusa.com/products/socketA.html

That is probably broke down
PS- My 2 HD burned down and I have burned capacitors, is it worth while trying to replace them, and use the old board. (I think go for a new board...)

So now I look for a new board and I don't know what specification should I look into?

I looked in AMD's website, and I can't choose what type of processor I have: is 1700 model6 or model8?
http://www2.amd.com/us-en/Processors/TechnicalResources/1,,30_182_869_4348%5e7923,00.html?1091063312 (http://www2.amd.com/us-en/Processors/TechnicalResources/1,,30_182_869_...8%5e792)

I also think that there are plenty of MB that aren't listed...

Need some help here...

get the magnifing glass out.

--Palomino-- Die size: approximately 37.2 million transistors on 128mm². Manufactured using AMD's state-of-the-art 0.18µ(-micron) copper process technology

AX1700DMT3C 1.47Ghz Multiplier=11x
Athlon XP(Palomino) Example:
A X 2100 D M T 3 C
A = AMD Athlon™ XP Model 6
X = Athlon XP Processor
2100 = Model Number (Athlon XP 2100+ Palomino)
D = Package Type: OPGA
M = Operating Voltage: 1.75V
T = Die Temperature: 90º Celsius
3 = Size of L2 Cache: 256KBytes
C = Max FSB: 266MHz

--Thoroughbred A-- Die size: approximately 37.6 million transistors on 80mm². Manufactured using AMD's state-of-the-art 0.13µ(-micron) copper process technology

AXDA1700DLT3C 1.47Ghz Multiplier=11x
Tbred A Example:
A X 2200 D K V 3 C
A = AMD Athlon™
X = Athlon XP Processor
2200 = Model Number (Athlon XP 2200+ Tbred A)
D = Package Type: OPGA(Organic Pin Grid Array)
K = Operating Voltage: 1.65V(U=1.6V)
T = Die Temperature: 90º Celsius
3 = Size of L2 Cache: 256KBytes
C = Max FSB: 266MHz

--Thoroughbred B-- Die size: approximately 37.5 million transistors on 84mm². Manufactured using AMD's state-of-the-art 0.13µ(-micronµ copper process technology.

AXDA1700DLT3C 1.47Ghz Multiplier=11x
Tbred B Example:
AXD A 2100 D U T 3 C
AXD = AMD Athlon™ XP Processor Model 8
A = Desktop Processor
2100 = Model Number (Athlon XP 2100+ Tbred B)
D = Package Type: OPGA(Organic Pin Grid Array)
U = Operating Voltage: 1.60V(L=1.50V K=1.65V)
T = Die Temperature: 90º Celsius(V=85º Celsius)
3 = Size of L2 Cache: 256KBytes(4=512KBytes)
C = Max FSB: 266MHz(D=333MHz)

just about any motherboard should be able to handle a xp1700. most low price boards now don't have temp, etc. sensors. with a little detective work you could find a motherboard that you can adjust the voltages and depending on the memory you have could speed your processor up with a good cpu cooler.
