hi, I currently get my HDTV via C/Ku band satellite through an analog
receiver, thence to a Motorola 4dtv dsr 905 Digital Sidecar
(www.4dtv.com) which demodulates the digital (mpeg 2 transport
stream), the output of that box is sent to the Motorola HDD-200 mpeg-2
HDTV ATSC decoder which outputs either HV sync and RGB or component
video (directly to the display). ok all this works just fine.
I am thinking of building a Home Theater Personal Computer (HTPC) to
perform some fairly basic VCR/PVR functions, record the video stream
to HTPC disk to play later. I am thinking of two basic mpeg decoders
one based upon the Conexant Dstream ATSC architecture (www.dvico.com)
or those more fully hardware intensive ATSC-MPEG-2 decoders based upon
the Teralogic/Janus architecture.
So the question is has anyone used either decoders on the motorola 905
output?
if so what were the results?
many thanks
