Hello all,

I am thinking of buying EVGA NVidia 6800 Ultra PCI-Express
BUT the description explains "PCI-Express compliant ..." smells
like adapter to support the interface but not native support for it
right?

TIA,
Best Regards,
Giovanni

Compliant, whenever I've seen it used in regards to computer products, means
it fully complies with and supports the relevant standard. So, I wouldn't
worry about it.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

He wasn't talking about PCI, he was talking about PCI _Express_.

Don't worry about it. If it fits in a PCI Express slot then it's got the
necessary support. The performance difference between native PCI Express
and PCI Express implemented with a bridge chip is very small and not
entirely in favor of the native implementation.

Yes and no. The 6800 series has a separate bridge chip die on the same
package as the main GPU.

I believe the only NVIDIA card with a native PCI Express interface on it
is currently the 6600GT, the others use a HSI bridge chip..
