Post subject: another newbie, possibly another dead tiger...
Archived from groups: alt>comp>periphs>mainboard>tyan (more info?)

i have built almost the same setup as another member who posted about
a problem, although mine has never started whereas he at least got a
few weeks out of his !

i have the tiger s2877 board, 2 x 248 opterons, 2x 1gig ecc, a 530w
tagan psu.

It did briefly boot to a flash screen, didnt leave this screen, i
figured it wouldnt recognise the wireless k/b so turned off to plug
in a ps2 one. since then it hasnt worked. there was an electrical
'smell' during this initial setup too.

i have tried allsorts since, ive filtered out the gfx & sound, ive
tried both cpus individually in the correct socket. ive also tried the
PSU with another board, it worked fine, although that was a socket
939.

does it sound like a dead mobo ? or could it be the cpus ? and how can
i check !?

thanks in advance.
