What do most of you recommend for editing, renaming, and doing the majority
of work with your digital camera photos? I'm using adobe photodeluxe
business edition now because it came with my scanner. Most of the functions
that i'm most interested in are cropping, resizing, and renaming. The
biggest pain is when i take 100 pictures and want to name them all
"event1-pic1" but i have to do that to every single photo individually.
Look forward to hearing your suggestions.

Paint Shop Pro supports batch operations, including, I think, renaming.
Many of us htink that PSP is the best image editor that is available at a
price less tan the pro-level software. Download it for a free trial at
<a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.jasc.com." target="_blank">www.jasc.com.</a>
If you have Win XP, batch renaming is built in.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: photo software |

Hi Chris,
I had Adobe Photodelux bundled with my camera and found it a little heavy on
resources, not too user friendly and not all functions available unless I
paid for the full version. Also Adobe Photo Album was bundled which I
thought could be handy until I tried importing photos into an album. To
begin with it seemed OK, but, then slowed down to such a pace I thought it
had frozen. This seems to be the way with free bundled stuff, look upon
them as sort of unlimited period limited trials.
For your needs you may find the free program Irfanview
<a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.irfanview.com" target="_blank">http://www.irfanview.com</a> forefills them all and you can expand it with
various free plugins including Photoshop plugins. If you want to go further
my favorite at a reasonable price is Paint Shop Pro v8 which you can
download as a trial for 30 days. The trial is the full program. I'm sure
you'll get lots more recommendations with arguments about which application
is better, but, remember, most have full program trials so you can download
one trial at a time, keep going for several months with different ones at no
cost and make up your mind at the end.
Enjoy,

Chris,
Photoshop Elements is great, far better than the 'baby' delux. It has the
best autolevel feature I have used. It's actually a cut-down versionof
Photoshop itself. Only other program is PaintShopPro. A great program and
has superb batch processing feature.

Well, there's probably a few more :=)) but Paint Shop Pro is ace as far as
value for money goes...the poor mans Photoshop with virtually all the
capabilities of Photoshop.

Yes CKRename is a great renamer. Even though I use ACDSee to rename
(and much more) there are some rename operations that it cannot do so
have to whip out CKRename.
