I saw that Nvidia has removed the "refresh rate override" from the newer
drivers. Is it coming back, or will this no longer be a feature of nvidia
drivers? If it's not going to be offered anymore, what is the consensus on
the best way to deal with the "60Hz" issue with games? Is the dxdiag
override the best alternative, or is a program like "RefreshForce" a better
way to keep games above 60Hz. I know that RefreshForce works on both
DirectX and OpenGL apps, but I've never been very clear on whether or not
there is a downside to using this program.

Thanks,

Larry

Its still available , just need to "unlock" it with coolbits.

The refresh rate override list is missing in 71.84 because of a missing
registry entry and the default is now for it to be disabled if unspecified.
Just add it back yourself. Here are a few settings to add more pages to the
driver. There are others as well.

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\NvTweak]
"CoolBits"=dword:00000007
"NvCplEnableHardwarePage" = dword:00000001
"NvCplEnableAGPSettingsPage" = dword:00000001
"NvCplEnableAdditionalInfoPage"=dword:00000001
"NvCplEnableDesktopOverlapPage"=dword:00000001
"NvCplEnableScreenMenuPage"=dword:00000001
"NvCplEnableTroubleshootingPage"=dword:00000001
"NvCplDisableRefreshRatePage"=dword:00000000
"NvCplCustomResConfig"=dword:00000000

Or just add this to the registry:

Odd.. i installed a 6800GT yesterday using the 71.89 (not 71.84), and adding
the coolbits did the trick.
Either way, hope he gets it to work, im surprised they leave that out pr

DVI Refresh Rate - I've a FX5600 card and a Viewsonic VG712s LCD. The connection is thru DVI-D. And running Win2K and latest official Nvidia driver. I've only able to run at 60Hz refresh rate, is it normal? If I change the connection to VGA (thru the Dsub-15 ..

Eyes get used to certain refresh rate ? - Hi everybody, For more than 6 years I used a CRT montior with 60hz refresh rate and never felt disturbed by the flickering, but now after using a samsung 757DFX 17" set to 1152x864@ 100hz for about a year I can't sit behind a 60hz monitor for more...

Unlocking refresh rate? - I have a GF4 64mb card and when I run my monitor at 1152x864, I can only bring the refresh rate to 75hz. I know that the monitor I'm using can go to 85hz at this resolution. Is there a way to unlock the resolution settings (either with a download or..

only one refresh rate, 60hz! - since updating my drivers (ive been stuck with 43.45 omega drivers for a few months now) i loose all my refresh rates in the monitor settings and geforce settings panel and can only choose 60hz no matter what. All these refresh rate fix programs do not..

Are the "refresh rate force" programs still needed? - I haven't been following the refresh rate issue for a while now, so I'm unclear if the add on programs are still needed to get above 60Hz with non-D3D games. If they're still needed, what's the general consensus on the best one/s? "Refresh force&q...
