I saw a boxed gigabyte GA 965P-S3 motherboard at a local computer store.
I looked all over the box but could not see what revision it is. I am not
allowed to open it, of course.
Does that mean it is rev 1? Or are there other clues I should be looking at?

That would probably mean it is a first revision. It is really tough to know
for sure. You could ask the person at the local store if he could look at
the order invoice to see if the revision is notated there.

Are the any date's you can go of that may provide a clue..?

In some cases they will stick a sticker on the box to save them having
to reprint the box, I use a GA 7 and can't remember seeing any rev.
numbers on the box or not but it's displayed on the mobo.

No revision number could indicate rev 1 I guess.
