I purchased the tyan s5101 motherboard and after installing it I am having a
problem with the computer shutting down. The last screen to come up is the
screen " it is now safe turn off your computer. I have to turn the power
supply off to shut it down. I have done everything I can think of to include
bios updates. There is not a power button option inside the control panel /
power options therefore I believe the bios is not communicating properly
with windows xp. I have tried turning off power management inside the bios
and changing the settings around with negative results. I have checked
devices not loading in device manager / hidden devices. Could someone please
advise.

Have you upgraded to the lastest bios? and did you reinstall XP from
scratch? This sounds like an ACPI issue. Do you have a hyper-threading cpu?
