I've just built a new system with an Asus board, and I want to try q-
fan, but want to be sure that it's safe. I'm using the stock AMD
cooler at the moment, so I don't know what the fan specs are. If the
voltage goes below the startup voltage will the fan just stop? Or can
that cause damage to the fan header or motherboard? If it did stop,
would it be reasonable to run my CPU passively until the temperature
increased? The CPU is a 45W one, which undervolts and underclocks at
idle giving a much lower power consumption. My power supply draws
just 20W at idle including the hard disk etc.
My CPU temperatures are generally being reported as about 10C at
idle. That is MUCH lower than room temperature, so that's got to be
wrong hasn't it? However, I did try touching the heatsink after
turning my machine off, and I wouldn't have known it had been on. |

Email Asus and ask them if the 10's of thousands of mobo with qfan are at
