Hello,

I just put together a XPC using sb61g2 motherboard and a P4 2.4 Ghz
hyperthread processor.

I had occasional seg faults and other flakiness while trying to
install XP and Gentoo Linux. These were fixed by changing the cpu
clock in the bios from 200Mhz to 180mhz. This reduced my overal speed
from 2.4 Mhz to 2.166 Mhz.

Anyone have any comments on this?

Do you think I got a bad P4 or bad motherboard?

Thanks,

Chuck

System:

Sb61g2 XPC
P4 2.4 Hyperthread
1 Gig DDR3200 Low Latency (2 cas) Patriot memory
120 gig SATA (seagate baracuda V)

Hi:

If you have trouble loading WinXP or Linux, You might have the
incorrect memory timing or incompatible DDR memory for your Intel 865
chipset.

Located your DRAM timing in the BIOS and try following DDR timing:

1. Change DRAM timing Selectable to Manual
2. CAS change to 2.5
3. Active to pregcharge Delay to 7
4. DRAM RAS# to CAS# Delay to 3
5. DRAM RAS# to precharge to 3

Good Luck
