how do i test if my USB port isn't dead in k7s5a PRO

Post subject: how do i test if my USB port isn't dead in k7s5a PRO
Archived from groups: alt>comp>periphs>mainboard>elitegroup (more info?)

It seems like my USB ports aren't recognizing any new devices.
How do I test if it is a software error or hardware has failed?
I am using XP sp1 with all the latest drivers and latest bios.
