Is there such a thing as a dua; ethernet/wireless adapter?

Or, if you don't want to go down that route, how about a USB wireless

A few hours ago, I purchased the Netgear WGR614 at Circuit City, price
after rebates $39.99, I believe Circuit City rebate ends 14 Nov 2004.

If you want to make sure one buys WGR614 v5, the latest version of the
firmware, do NOT buy online.

All the web sites I checked claimed to be selling the silver colored
version, v5 is white.

I called Circuit City, they had both colors. Boxes are similar enough that
one could miss the difference, however, side panel does say WGR614 v5.

WGR614 documentation states that it supports Win 95 and up.
Linksys, D-Link, SMC models I looked at stated Win 98 and up.

Anyway, price was too good to pass up.

Oh well, there goes much of tomorrow changing my setup and hoping the
critter works.

I have a WGR614 v4, and it works fine. The ones to stay away from are v1 to
v3, which use a different controller chip. But in v4, Netgear went with a
Marvell chip than includes an embedded ARM9 controller to implement the
router functionality. That solved a lot of router problems they were
having, at least with the latest firmware.

Up to v4, the WGR614 also included an Atheros AR5002 chip to implement the
802.11 functionality. But in v5, Netgear apparently went with a Marvell
802.11 chip from what I read. That may be fine, but for maximum
compatibility with my PC Card, which uses an Atheros chipset, I want to
stick with v4.

These conclusions result from reading between the lines a little, but this
is the best I can figure out at the moment.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

I had trouble getting the first v5 running, apparently because:

1, The critter did not reset properly when I connected to the configuration
software.
2. The various techies were confused and ran me thru so many resets that
eventually the unit would not reset.

Fortunately, Circuit City had one unit left, and it was a v5.
No problem getting going this time, but to make sure, I called level 2 tech
support directly.

Of course, I won't know whether the wireless part works until I get a
wireless computer.
Right now, only using the unit for networking files and printer.

For $39.99, after rebates, the price sure was right.
