Open your manual and look for a block diagram of the system.
If you only own one processor, it must be installed in the
"CPU0" socket. Also, the graphics card would have to go into
the PCI Express x16 socket which connects to the NPF3600 chip.
Then there is a chance it will POST.

http://www.tyan.com/manuals/m_s2915_100.pdf (PDF page 9)

CPU1 is also part of the I/O path, and anything running off
CPU1, won't work when CPU1 is missing.

That includes the memory population rules as well.
You'll want to install the memory DIMMs next to
CPU0.

Thanks for response

Do you know how to install a speaker in order to get beep code?

Dear Camouse,

here is a link to the manual:

http://www.tyan.com/support_download_manuals.aspx?model=S.S2915

Page 7: SSI EPS12V power supply with 24, 8 and 4 pin connectors?

Looks like the Seasonic SS-650JT and SS-650-JS work, but, there are
other 650W models...

http://www.seasonicusa.com/80plus.htm

Page 7 says that ATX 2.X will damage the motherboard...

Page 32: all three power connectors from the SSI EPS unit hooked up?

Page 63: check memory, video, CPU....and, is CPU properly installed
with heatsink making good contact/fan plugged in, etc?

Paul, I see a list of BIOS post codes in the manual, but no Port 80 code
display LED: could be that "Serial console redirect" is used to monitor
the BIOS codes? I am not sure about that....I tried to find a clear
picture of the motherboard that would show a code display LED, but could
not find one.

HTH,

There is a picture here.

ftp://ftp.tyan.com/img_mobo/i_s2915.tif

I checked the manual, and there is no SPKR signal on the panel header.
And I don't see a piezo speaker on the motherboard either. What were
they thinking ?

For Port 80, you can stick a port card in one of the PCI slots,
and the BIOS is supposed to send Port codes there. The Port card
has a two digit display, to display them. I think the Port card
only works in one particular PCI slot. Port cards can be purchased
on Ebay, as well as at your local computer store.

There is mention of an LPC option for Port 80 in the BIOS,
but I don't see any other references to LPC that make sense.

Just one more, half documented motherboard, I guess.

Pretty hard to debug a motherboard, if you cannot get any
feedback.

Dear C,

speed read of manual shows no on board speaker or on board speaker
jumpers, at least that I see.

Here is a link to some user comments:

Hi

I have this alimentation:
http://www.seasonicusa.com/s12plus.htm

I check all voltage pin before power up, and everything seems ok

For the bios code, i don"t know what port 80 is Sad
I have a null modem serial cable, but i can't find it. I will search for
it this week end.

Thanks.

Search on Ebay for "pci post card".

This is a picture of one. It plugs into a PCI slot, and
by the looks of this picture, it is plugged into PCI Slot 1,
next to the video card.

http://i10.ebayimg.com/02/i/04/f7/cf/d5_1_b.JPG

Section 4.2 "Phoenix BIOS Post Code" in the manual, has a list of
the two digit codes you would see on the above PCI card. The
feedback the codes provide, is not that useful, but seeing a
0x00 or 0xFF value tells you the processor hasn't managed to
do anything.

I notice as well, that the "Phoenix BIOS Post Code" table, also
includes what look like beep codes. But unless we can find a
speaker, those would be useless bits of information.

I cannot find any useful information on the Seasonic, as to whether
the Tyan board would cause a problem via the EPS connector or not.
Three power cables have to be connected, with presumably the 2x2
powering the RAM and the 2x4 powering the processor sockets. If
the fans are spinning, then the power supply hasn't shut off.

Looks like it *is* EPS compliant:

Hi

I bought a PCI Bios Post card on ebay
I test it in my motherboard and i obtain 0x00 on my motherboard
What does it means?
This code isn't in the Pheonix Bios Post Code in the manual.
Is it the processor or the motherboard which is Out of order ???

Make sure the PCI Post Card is in slot 1. That is the PCI
slot nearest to the processor. I don't think the Port 80
write cycles go to all slots, and only one PCI slot will
work with the card.

If you see 0x00 or 0xFF hex on the display, it means no
writes have been received by the card. No BIOS code is
being executed, if you see that as the symptoms.

The codes are "progress reports". They tell you when
a certain routine has executed. They are not "error
reports". When you see the codes flashed on the display,
it means things are happening. The last code you see,
is presumably the routine where the system is getting
stuck. That is the whole idea behind using a POST card.

You're going to need some help at a shop I think.
Someone needs to use a multimeter and verify all
voltages are present, and do some simple checks like
that. Either the motherboard is a dud, or there is
an assembly error of some sort.

My previous post did not go through, so we'll see
whether this one does or not.

The motherboard have only one pci slot so i don't have the choice
this slot is linked to the cpu0
The bios post card display 00, there is no change (it is stuck on 0)
the alimentation is good (i have it in my former pc)

i contact tyan and i wait for a response

Thanks
