I have a 32 meg AIW radeon, and am able to record a tv show through the vcr
easy enough. However with young child wanting to watch Finding Nemo 24/7, I
tried recording it to HD for easier viewing.

However when I tried to record it, the record buttons fades out, not
letting me record. I then let stopped play and the button comes back in.

I then started recording a normal tv show and then hit play.. A few seconds
in, and an error message says its protected against recording and halts the
recording.

Now without the flames against me for wanting to copy the tape, I do own the
tape so I should be ok for backing it up once ( it being watched numerous
times will wear out the tape too).

Is there any way around this ?

I didn't specify enough:

Im asking if theres any way to still copy from the vcr as opposed to just
using kazaa or winmx etc.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->
