Noob Question--is it necessary to update the BIOS with each one in sequence
or is it possible to skip one or two or even three updates and just go for
the latest BIOS update?

You can skip BIOS'es Mike. You don't
have to flash every single version of a BIOS
that comes out. Coz, it'll get overwritten by the
next BIOS update you flash anyway.

If you have like 1004 now you can go straight to
the latest. Just make sure you use the program
that comes with the BIOS update (if there is one).

ie: If the BIOS update comes with AFUDOS. Use
AFUDOS, from DOS ONLY and boot from floppy.

Don't use a Windows based update program. A lot of people I know have made
this mistake and totally killed
their systems.
