Hi all, I'm in a bit of a pickle. I'm using win xp pro on a kw7 based PC.
Whenever I plug a usb 2 device into any of the usb ports I get the
little "This device can perform faster" balloon. If you click on the
ballon it then offers to show you usb2 capable ports, I've apparently
got about 8, but no matter what usb port I plug the device into, it's
never usb2. I've checked the bios and usb2 looks to be enabled.
I'm stuck.

cheers
rb

USB2 motherboard implementation has three parts:-
1)A USB 2.0 controller
2)A USB 1.0/1.1 controller
3)A Router which connects devices to the "appropriate" controller.

Nvidia decided that they would route based on "speed". So USB 2.0 Full speed
devices are routed to the USB 1.0/1.1 controller. Only USB 2.0 High Speed
devices are routed to the USB 2.0 controller.
This confuses windowsxp which assumes that all USB 2.0 devices should be
connected to a USB 2.0 controller.

You should only get the warning on installation. The warning doesn't mean
you devices isn't working as fast at it can.

Some people have got to the point they have overloaded their USB 1.0/1.1
controller, and have an unused USB 2.0 controller. I believe if you fit a
USB 2.0 High Speed hub you will get the motherboard to route that to the USB
2.0 controller.Any device connected to that hub will then use the USB 2.0
controller.
