or

GeForce4 440MX 64mb (128bit) TV-out

I would go with the 440MX. But for a few dollars more you can get a FX5200
Ultra. I just replaced a 440MX with the Ultra and saw a big improvement in
performance.

Hope this helps

Hi,
Its way more than a few bucks. Currently the prices are as
follows for me in Canadian dollars. $169 for the FX5200 and $89 for
the 440MX and 9200SE. See price list below.

I'm not much of a gamer, but I do like to open up lots of windows
(applications and browser windows). I occassionally like to run
graphic programs like photoshop with lots of images. I don't care
much about 3D games. I need something with blazing fast 2D
performance. That way switching from one window to the next is a
snap.

I can't spend more than $100 for my graphic card so its down to either
the 9200SE, MX440 or Radeon 7500 DDR. Which among the three is best
for my everyday use?

Geforce2 MX400 64M $55
Geforce2 MX400 64M TVout $62
ATI Radeon VE 32M TV $49
ATI Radeon 7000 64M SD / DDR ( OEM* ) $59/69
ATI Radeon 7500 64M SD / DDR ( OEM* ) $79/89
ATI Radeon 9200SE 128M ( DVI ) ( OEM* ) $89
ATI all-in-wonder 64M Redeon 7500 ( Box**) $195
ATI all-in-wonder 64M Redeon 9000Pro ( Box**) $259
Asus Geforce4 V9180 Magic 64M (8x AGP) $89
Asus Geforce4 V9180 TD 64M (8x AGP) $119
Asus Geforce4 V9280 Ti4200 128M ( 8x AGP ) $229
MSI Geforce4 mx440 64M DDR TV (4xAGP) $79
MSI Geforce4 mx440 64M DDR TV (8xAGP) $89
MSI Geforce4 FX5200 128M $169
MSI Geforce4 Ti4200 128M (8xAGP) $229
MSI Geforce4 Ti4600 128M (8x AGP) $379<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Matrox G550 has the BEST 2D on the market. No 3D to speak of but the 2D
rocks. If you play any 3D games this card isn't good for that.

Since you seem more concerned with 2D than 3D and using graphics progs like
PhotoShop, I'd look into the older Matrox Millennium line (G450, G400-Max,
G400, G550--in that order of preference), which are a bargain for the money.
I have a G450 DH installed running at 4x (max) with two monitors, and
graphics reproduction and speed are excellent. You can pick up the older
models (G400, G400-Max, and G450) for very reasonable prices on eBay. Video
RAM of 32mb is perfectly adequate for this type of 2D- graphic requirement,
and you could even get by with 16mb with no degradation as long as you don't
want to go higher than 1600x1280 resolution.

The advantage of using AGP over PCI isn't just to get better video
performance but was to take the video overhead off the PCI buss. I wouldn't
choose a PCI card over an AGP one for that reason.
