Post subject: Can't view .zip files anymore.....
Archived from groups: alt>comp>hardware>pc-homebuilt (more info?)

Been running adaware, spybot, cws religoiusly on a homebuilt machine,
running winXP Pro. For some reason i can no longer open .zip files, either
those stored locally, or directly from internet, I get an error message
stating that the file is corrupted. I did download winRar to see if it
could view the files, and it can, i would jsut rather let winXP handle my
..zip extensions in an explorer window. This has happened before, and last
time i did a full system reinstall, would rather not do that this time! Any
ideas what could be causing this error and how to resolve? (considering a
"repair install" but don't want to chance it screwing up something else in
process).

More system specs....
ASUS P4C800E-Delux MOBO, Mushkin 512MB ram (forget the type), onboard audio,
ATI9800PRO/128MB graphics, WD1200SATA HD, LITE-ON 16xDVDROM, LITE-ON CDRW.
OS is WinXPPro, all updates installed, running norton AV and AVG av, updated
daily. Spybot run AT LEAST weekly, updated on whatever schedule they
release on, ADAWARE run AT LEAST WEEKLY updated every time run. I don't
normally open zips directly from web, but did try to see if it would work,
nojoy, leads me to believe its nothing to do with local file corruption, but
more to do with the .zip filehandler acting up.... Any Ideas??
